Japanese: ja:不殺生

ノンキリング（不殺生）は、殺生がないこと、また殺される脅威や人間社会で殺生を助長するような状況がないことをいう。

Note 1: in Japanese, "threats to kill" is translated as "threats to be killed," taking the point of view of the potential victim. The meaning which is not included in the Japanese term is "threats to have to kill others," as when someone is sent to war or is asked to commit a crime. Therefore the Japanese sentence above is the best way to translate "threats to kill."

Note 2: Please remove yesterday's post and replace with this statement:

ノンキリング（不殺生）

ノンキリング is the katakana writing for "nonkilling," imitating the English pronunciation, a current way of identifying new concepts imported from abroad.

不殺生 is the kanji for "fusesshou," which means nonkilling. Originally a Buddhist term, it is understood by everybody today.

不 = fu (not) 殺 = satsu (kill), which changes its pronunciation in combination with the next character, 生 = shou (life).

The result is not-kill-life, or "nonkilling."

Other possibilities include:

  1. "殺さない" (korosanai)
  2. "非殺" (hisatsu, as in “nonviolence” hiboryoku (非暴力).
